been afew weeks since ive been on and updated things....ive changed the front springs as it was sitting on the bump stops and im now waiting it to settle down untill i cut them down to were i want it to sit..
i also had the axle booked in to hauser racing to change the gear ratio and also in hope it would sort out the noisy gears...... had a call from jeff about an hour after my mate had droped it off and gave me some bad news. to mine and marks horror :o it turned out the axle housing was out of true by 1/4'' ether side making it 1/2'' twisted thoss the reason behind all the probs mark had with the rear end :( theres a number of reasons thats could of corsed the twisting.narrowing it then welding of brakets then then re-welding of brackets again to fit in to this van plus the 1st bogged fitment of gear set mark had done by a so-called pro  jeff said the gear set mark installed was way off but coz axle was twist he did well to get it as good as he did and no matter how hard hed try would never of got it right coz of the twist :( needless to say the axle had to be reset to true ot sort the prob . so jeff cut off the housing ends to re weld the axle in true then rebuild with new 3.27 gear ratio all at a huge cost i wasnt expecting    the bitter sweet out come is the axle and car are sorted :D but the huge bill will prob now force me to sell the van    shit happens and if i cant find away around my money probs candy will be for sale at wheels day at easter :( :( :(

anyway had it out saturday for the 1st time since axle was rebuilt and went for a sort cruise with ny mates in the beetle (also its 1st trop :D ) happy to report all was great and axle is silent as it should be :D and with the front suspention now working its such a great drive 8-) 8-) so chuffed with it 8-) 8-)
so heres afew vid clips and pics

It seems like it's problem after problem mate. Such a shame. What sort of cost is Hauser for that work then if it's that bad. I've now been told that the person recommended to me for my engine work is a right w****r and has buggered up plenty of other peoples engines. Why is it such a problem to get stuff done properly here.

its not a case of more probs as axle was always a prob we just didnt know why.theres no way mark would of know it was bent unless he'd put an alinement tool in it or had it checked out like hauser did... id already planed on the gear change so thats wasnt a prob untill we found out axle was twisted :( and doubling the bill at the same time....so budget blown before ive even had chance to drive it anywhere. its the strew that broke the camals back as they say.theres a glimmer of hope i wont have to sell .time will tel...

as for engine building id only trust rob at ice racing engines top man... what u need doing?????

Is he any good with pontiacs would you know? I've had so many people try with mine over the years and nobody has really excelled. I don't understand why pontiacs are any different from anything else unless it's the weight of all the componenets but i've been told on numerous occasions that I need a pontiac specialist.

give him a ring and ask sir but accurate balancing, clearancing, gapping, adjusting, indexing etc etc etc and above all the matching of correct components is a must for any air pump whether its a yank 8,a jap or german six or even a good old kent x flow.he offers all parts, components.he will do the build or you can.and he has all the machines and a mean all the machines and is absolutely shit hot at operating them ask virtually anyone involved in drag racing, power boats or that oval days of thunder type racing(name escapes me)and whether or not they utilise his talents you wont find anyone slagging him off.ring he is a proper yorkshire man and you can catch him at the wrong moment(or maybe he just dont like me)but he is still the man :P :P

Well had a few weeks of trouble free motoring and even did a show (wheels day) when on the the way home the box made a few odd growns but all seem's ok. Did a few More small trips out and about and show'd the other half how to do a burn out (great job shell) again all ok . Then Friday I pulled it off the drive to cruise down to Brighton and shifted from 1st to 2nd bang gears crunching on every shift :(

Totaly gutted :( not at it broken (shit happens) but the fact I'm now back in the situation of another big bill :( and just when my money probs had eased after some good luck for a change.......... So again I'm worried I may have to sell the van once fixed. And if I can't find the money may be sell it as is :(

So the fight with this car go's on again as dose the fight to keep it. I'm not giving up just yet although the end is close if things carrie on the way they are.........
