sorry for slow response George, yes 150 shot.

It may have been ok but the air filter rubber had swollen up and popped the top off which loosened the scoop which had twisted round enough so the butterflys over centred and closed which would have run rich and washed the bores so the rings couldn't get rid of the heat and they expanded and butted.

My friend Jack did me a favour on the 350 bottom end from his Firebird as a tempary engine, he'd frequently run gas so even though it had cast stock pistons I thought it had been re built so would have slightley bigger ring gaps so would have been ok.

I've now pinned the scoop so it can't twist and will find a K&N filter to fit.

Update,

This motor was a short rod motor so wasn't ideal but was going to finish the season on. It did feel quicker than a knife fight in a phone box but it was too noisy for my liking ( they are hard on the bores and slap if you listen carefully ) so it'll be replaced with my longer rods and may have the pistons milled if feasible or a new set.
