the stock staggered bolt hole starter hat cracked its solenoid housing so I thought I'd rebuild the summit one that had given me gyp a while ago.

solenoid and brushes were rusted and seized. took a lot of cleaning and oiling and swearing to fix it.

Rockers are just plonked on while I adjust the pushrod guide plates.

front pulleys are all out of whack now so have to mess about shimming them.
Also I've had to re fit my remote oil filter and 2 oil coolers as this engine I put block fill in up to the bottom of the core plugs to strengthen it as it's a 400 with joined cylinders. The most heat is made in the top bit of the block and the heads and controlled by coolant but the oil coolers help keep the rest where the coolant doesn't get to ,cool. Otherwise on the street the oil does get too hot.
