This event has been building up steam over the past few weeks an details have now been released, basically it's a UK scaled down version of the US Hot Rod Power Tour an similar.

It's a 3 day event over the May Bank Holiday weekend (Gary's Picnic weekend), it's 3 tracks over 3 days Rye (our very own John's track), Shakey an York, with cars having to drive to an from the tracks with no trailers...

Don't know if any OS members have been following or thinking of having a go next year?

wish the guys involved all the best of luck with it but i won't be doing it. chucking shed loads of money in the fuel tank driving from track to track with no fall back if the car breaks is not my idea of fun . . in the states i can see the adventure in it the fuel is much cheaper and there are a lot more tracks but in the uk not really any point just a way of spending a lot of money with no gain at the end of it .

I'd love to take part, I've never raced at York or Rye yet.

Rye is top of my list for when I get things sorted again 8-)

its all about proving real street ability and reliability, and having the quickest car able to achieve that, thats what the little disc in the windscreen is really all about, not just running fast on a strip, people that enter this wont be interested how much fuel it costs,we will have a go at it ,if its proper organised and at decent venues. may as well all hand the tax discs back to dvla if the thinkin is "its pointless driving them on the roads. the whole idea of not allowing back up for breakdowns from outsiders is to stop the circus that would follow vehicles round with big money ,artic trucks full of spares, the idea is you chance at takin what you need and if you achieve it and beat the next guy then ..and this is only my opinion, thats far greater buzz than just trailering to the strip, run then trailer home, that would bore me ,fully understandable for pure race cars but not street cars. I also guess its about how much you know your car and for me anyway from the first day I got into this hobby/sport ive chucked loads of money at the game with no gain,so it must be for some other reason we do it...... cuz we all do. :)

like i say fair play to anyone who wants to give it a go and its great to see a uk version of the power tour taking shape but its just not what i would see as fun really. i enjoy racing and i enjoy driving my race cars on the street , driving them on the street for over 100 miles no thanks i know the escort could do it with ease but my bank balance couldn't and i have a comfy car with a trailer that don't drink like a fish for that

I am interested in this and have been for some time,, however I wouldn't take part in the event being proposed as it starts off in a very dangerous track.. I really don't understand the need for trailers etc for your supposed road car,, my view is and always has been that street cars should be driven on the street,, otherwise you build a race car, get it mot and taxed and cheat,,Having a street car is always a comprise but can be done,, I think when the drag tour becomes a serious event with the tracks on board then we should support it wholeheartedly,, just my view

I think what people need to remember is:

Rye isn't a 1/4 strip that's been around for 40-50 years with loads of money pumped into it, it's a sprint track that is being built from nothing with nothing to encourage the younger generation to race safety an not on the street.

Rye IS as grass roots as drag racing gets an as drag racing started, it needs the support of others to build into something great, which with time energy an commitment it will become.

I'd be quite interested in this now my economy is a bit better with the new ecu, don't think 1mpg would have suited my bank balance
