Below is the OS-1 2016 race report which will be in the next edition of American Car magazine

Outlaw Street 2016 Race Series

Round OS-1 2016

Santa Pod Raceway
RWYB & Central Performance Show
7th-8th May

Report by Mark Wallington

After what felt like a winter that would never end, the 2016 Outlaw Street race season finally arrived and the WOW what a way to start, glorious sunshine all weekend, the Santa Pod team had been busy working away on the track which felt stickier than ever with quite a few new PB's being achieved.

Massive thanks to Neale at Santa Pod for arranging the pit area and looking after OS for the weekend, we had over 33 members attending during the weekend and over 20 bringing cars along to race, including freshly the freshly built C10 pickup of Rob Leyman & David Mahoney's gen 1 Camaro, both running twin turbo'd LS1's, we also had new members coming out to race with OS for the first time including David Oken in his super clean Mustang & David Seale in his LS1 Monaro to name just a couple.

Lots of regular members had been busy over the winter with upgrades & tweaks, including Nigel Jenkins, Clive Dandridge, Debbie Taylor & Chris Richards in their Mustangs, in the Chevrolet camp, Andy Blackett & Troy Attree were both back racing their gen 1 and 4 Camaros.

Although the sun was on our side and so was the track, the 'new season, new gremlins' were abundant with virtually all cars needed a spanner and tweak over the weekend, and a few having to retire on the Saturday to be able to 'fight another day & at another round'.

As the first meet of the season this was a non points round with cars 'dialling in' for the season, although nicknamed 'Sandbag Saturday', due to members not wanting to go 'all out' at round 1 and leave themselves with no room to improve (and win points) across the season, the mix of sun, sticky tracks and horsepower was too much for some who suddenly found themselves with new PB's.

The Joe & Co sponsored Reaction Time trophy & prize money had several members dusting off the cobwebs to see if they could secure a trophy at the first round of the year and saw quite a few drivers 'pulling cherries' on the tree so I expect there's going to be a bun fight this year to try and win an RT trophy.

The winner of this years first RT trophy was OS-69 Gary Semper in his '69 Firebird with an impressive 0.0484 RT

The top 6 RT's of OS-1 were:
1. OS-69 Gary Semper in his '69 Convertible Firebird with a 0.0484 RT
2. OS-68 Debbie Taylor in her Mustang with a 0.2600 RT
3. OS-66 Steve Newport Hall in his '66 Cobra with a 0.2608 RT
4. OS-41 Nigel Jenkins in his supercharged Mustang with a 0.2761 RT
5. OS-6 Stephen Moule in his 502 big block Chevelle with a 0.2892 RT
6. OS-67 Clive Dandridge in his 1967 Mustang with a 0.2936 RT

The next round of Outlaw Street OS-2 is at:

Shakespeare County Raceway
Yanks American Car Festival / Gary's Picnic
28th May to 30th May

With over 20 Outlaw Street cars already confirmed to attend and more adding by the day its shaping up to be a great round, with a years American Car Magazine subscription, Joe & Co RT trophy & points towards the WASP 2016 trophies up for garbs I expect the weekend will be packed with yet more PB's and action.
