Below is the OS-8 Race Report which will be in the next edition of American Car magazine

Outlaw Street 2016 Race Series

Report by Mark Wallington

Round OS-8 2016
Shakespeare County Raceway
Halloween Bonfire Burn-Up
22nd-23rd October 2016

Where has this year gone? Was the standard comment from everyone as we went into the final round of this years series, it only felt like a few weeks ago we were just dusting the cobwebs off the cars to start racing for the year and already the nights are drawing in and the seasons coming to a close.

Everyone was keen to try and squeeze those last few runs in and chase the sun before it packed up for the winter, with nearly 30 members out for the weekend it was clear members were in an 'all or bust' mood.

With this being the last opportunity to score a few more points there were those out with their calculators seeing 'if' they could get closer to winning a trophy or whether there hopes and dreams had been dashed for another year and it would be back to the garage to try and find those lost ponies.

Although it was cold, and it was proper cold, it stayed dry and the winds stayed away making it ideal conditions for a weekends racing, the track wasn't overly packed which allowed for quite a lot of hot lapping, not sure f this was to try and improve on PB's or just to stay warm.

This paid off for a few people with OS-69 Gary Semper in his 1969 Pontiac Firebird, Os-6 Stephen Moule in his Chevelle, OS-8 Mark Holmes, OS-19 David Mahoney in his LS1 Camaro, OS-42 Nigel Jenkins in his supercharged Ford Mustang and OS-9 Rob Leyman in his C10 pickup truck all setting themselves new PB's over the weekend.

It wasn't unfortunately smiles for everyone, with OS-8 Mark Holmes suffering an oil down in his Model A which put an end to his weekends racing.

The Joe & Co sponsored Silver tankard & prize money for the Fastest Reaction Time of the weekend had everyone pushing the tree as far as they dare, with only:

0.024 of a second between 1st & 2nd place
0.062 of a second between 1st & 3rd place
&
0.154 of a second separating the top six

The win went to:

OS-10- Troy Attree in his 1998 LS1 Camaro with a 0.025 RT

The Top 6 RT's of OS-8 were:
1. 0.025 RT OS-10 Troy Attree in his 1998 LS1 Camaro
2. 0.049 RT OS-67 Clive Dandridge in his 1967 Ford Mustang
3. 0.087 RT OS-18 Vic Fisher in his Ford Mustang
4. 0.154 RT OS-66 Steve Newport Hall in his 1966 Cobra
5. 0.164 OS-68 Debbie Taylor in her Ford Mustang
6. 0.179 OS-30 Mike Pidgeon in his MKII Ford Escort

Also up for grabs was the last American Car Magazine subscription for 2016, which is awarded to the highest points scorer of the round.

The last subscription up for grabs this year went to:

OS-42 Nigel Jenkins with 221 points

As OS-19 David Mahoney had already secured a top points round & subscription earlier in the season.

The Top 6 Points Scorers of OS-8 were:
1. 222 OS-19 David Mahoney in his First Gen Camaro
2. 221 OS-42 Nigel Jenkins in his supercharged Ford Mustang
3. 216 OS-9 Rob Leyman in his C10 Pickup Truck
3. 216 OS-16 David Searle in his LS1 Monaro
5. 215 OS-32 Pete Jackson in his 1932 Ford Coupe
6. 214 OS-34 Gary Carr in his 1971 Chevrolet Nova

The final league table for the 2016 series including who managed to secure the Fastest ET and RT's of 2016 will be in next months edition along with a write up on the 2016 Outlaw Street Prize Night.
