Outlaw Street OS-7 Race Report

1st – 2nd September ‘VW Action’ weekend at Santa Pod Raceway
What’s that I can hear you saying American cars at a VW show, yep that’s right, Outlaw Street has been attending VW Action for a number of years and will always continue to support, simply because it’s a really great show with a relaxed family atmosphere and a chance to race old school with big block muscle cars versus highly tuned beetles.

The added bonus this year was the theme for the show was Rock n’ Roll, that’s right think Happy days, meets Grease meets American Graffiti, with everyone in fancy dress, amazing stage sets, great R&R bands and to top it all American Graffiti played on the main stage cinema screen at midnight on the Saturday night, with free popcorn!

Needless to say members were out in force to support with over 35 members in attendance across the weekend and over 15 cars competing, the added bonus with VW Action being the Sunday is a Peak Performance Day ensuring a fully race prepped track and limited sign-ons (which is always a favourite).
The weather was despite showers on the Friday, good to us all weekend as were the mechanical gremlins with everyone making it home under their own power opposed to on the back of a yellow or orange lorry!

As always members were chasing their RT's in the hope of securing a Joe & Co sponsored RT trophy, and it appears that one member is currently on an RT roll.

After bagging his first ever RT trophy at OS-6, OS-19 Cervini alias Steve Moisey, managed to do the 'double' and secured the OS-7 RT trophy with a 0.0116 RT, so well done to Steve who takes his second Joe & Co sponsored RT Trophy and £25 prize money.

The top 6 RT's over the weekend were
1. OS-19 Steve Moisey in his Cervini Mustang with a 0.0116 RT
2. OS-18 Vic Fisher in his supercharged V6 Mustang with a 0.0916 RT
3. OS-43 Derren Brown in his small block powered Escort with a 0.1332 RT
4. OS-50 Roy Collins in his 540ci supercharged Camaro with a 0.1602 RT
5. OS-7 Andy Murton in his ’67 Camaro with a 0.2354 RT
6. OS-3 Andy Blackett in his first gen Camaro with a 0.2532 RT

There was 0.2416 of a second separating the top 6, 0.1216 of a second separating the top 3 and a jaw dropping 0.08 of a second between 1st and 2nd

At each points round the highest points scorer wins a year’s subscription to American Car magazine and a unique one of a kind engraved tankard by MissB Engraving.
The OS-7 winner of the year’s subscription technically was won by Andy Murton in his ‘Nevermind’ Camaro who scored 223 points, however as Andy won a subscription at OS-2 earlier in the year, as per the rules the subscription went to 2nd place winner Andy Blackett in his OS-3 first gen Camaro with 220 points.

The Miss B Engraving glass tankard remained with the 1st place winner of OS-7 Andy Murton who now has two tankards from this season to add to his trophy cabinet.

The top 6 points scorers for the weekend were:
1. 223 points OS-7 Andy Murton in his ’67 Camaro
2. 220 points OS-3 Andy Blackett in his first gen Camaro
3. 218 points OS-8 Mark Holmes in his chevy powered pro street Escort
4. 215 points OS-50 Roy Collins in his supercharged pro-street Camaro
5. 214 points OS-16 John Edwards in his 347 V8 powered Mustang
6. 214 points OS-43 Derren Brown in his small block powered Escort

We’re 7 rounds into the 2012 season with only 2 more to go, where’s the year gone! and there’s still everything to race for with 671 points between the top 12, 238 points between the top 6 and only 17 points separating the top 3....!

As of OS-7 the 2012 League Table looks like this:
1. 1,333 Points OS-7 Andy Murton
2. 1,319 Points OS-50 Roy Collins
3. 1,316 Points OS-13 Stuart Ramsay
4. 1,266 Points OS-16 John Edwards
5. 1,257 Points OS-18 Vic Fisher
6. 1.095 Points OS-31 Nick Rose
7. 1,075 Points OS-19 Steve Moisey
8. 1,050 Points OS-53 Chris Antell
9. 1,043 Points OS-40 Steve Newport Hall
10. ,856 Points OS-43 Derren Brown
11. ,671 Points OS-42 Nigel Jenkins
12. ,642 Points OS-48 Martin Green

REMEMBER that this picture will change dramatically as the season progresses, especially if members near the top of the table miss a round, or suffer breakages ect, also at the end of the season members drop their lowest scoring round of points + the 25 attendance points from the 1st round they attend.
