Outlaw Street OS-9 Race Report
Written by Mark Wallington

27th & 28th October ‘Halloween Bonfire Burn-up’ at Shakespeare County Raceway

Outlaw Streets final round of 2012 is always a meet that is dictated by the weather, ‘drag racing & November’ aren’t words that go hand in hand in the UK, and this year was no exception.

However despite it being bitterly cold, Saturday stayed dry and a full days racing was had by all, a few members even managed to finish the season on PB’s or tenth’s away from PB’s, not bad for a cold November day!

Due to quite a few members suffering major breakages as rounds OS-7 and OS-8, numbers were down for the last meet with 20 members attending for the weekend and 11 cars racing. The Halloween meet at SCR has always been a firm favourite of Outlaw Street and after a day’s racing on the Saturday the Halloween festivities began with costumes, bonfire and fireworks.
Unfortunately the dry weather of the Saturday didn’t continue into the Sunday and despite everyone’s hope the drizzle came in first thing and stayed for the day.

Being the last meet of the season those out to race were all going for ‘hell or broke’ hoping to lay claim on the last RT Trophy of the season or squeeze those last few points in, unfortunately some members pushed a little too hard with a couple of members having forced early retirements due to breakages.
The Joe & Co sponsored Reaction Time trophy was being chased by those out to play

OS-42 Nigel Jenkins secured the OS-9 RT Trophy with a 0.063 RT much to the disappointment of OS-43 Derren Brown who was trying his hardest to secure his first RT trophy and though he ‘had it in the bag’ with a 0.078 RT, losing by 0.015 of a second.

The top 6 RT's over the weekend were:
1. OS-42 Nigel Jenkins in his V8 Mustang with a 0.063 RT
2. OS-43 Derren Brown in his Chevy small block powered Escort with a 0.078 RT
3. OS-19 Steve Moisey in his Cervini Mustang with a 0.207 RT
4. OS-52 Tim Rose in his Ford Capri with a 0.302 RT
5. OS-24 Ross Page in his VW Golf with a 0.313 RT
6. OS-50 Roy Collins in his supercharged Camaro with a 0.321 RT

At each points round the highest points scorer wins a year’s subscription to American Car magazine and a unique one of a kind engraved tankard by MissB Engraving.

A very very rare occurrence in Outlaw Street, but OS-42 Nigel Jenkins in his Ford Mustang managed to achieve the ‘triple’ at OS-9, winning not only the RT Trophy, but also securing highest points winner for the weekend, thus wining the American Car magazine subscription and the MissB engraving glass tankard. This is a huge achievement taking into account the number of members all trying to win.

The top 6 points scorers for the weekend were:

1. 221 points OS-42 Nigel Jenkins in his Ford Mustang
2. 220 points OS-7 Andrew Murton is his 540 Big Block Camaro
3. 219 points OS-19 Steve Moisey in his Cervini Mustang
4. 219 points OS-8 Mark Holmes in his small block powered pro street Escort
5. 218 points OS-52 Tim Rose in his Ford Capri
6. 218 points OS-50 Roy Collins in his supercharged second generation Camaro

The final round of the 2012 series has now come to an end, the winners of the season is currently being kept under lock and key until the Outlaw Street 2012 Prize Night at Ken’s Diner on Saturday 24th November.
