Outlaw Street OS-7 Race

3rd – 4th September at ‘VW Action’ weekend Santa Pod Raceway
The seventh meeting of the 2011 series was held during the VW Action weekend at Santa Pod Raceway, the event is a long standing event on the Outlaw calendar due to the relaxed family atmosphere of the event and the added bonus of the Sunday always being a ‘Peak Performance Test & Tune’ day.

This means that although the sign on is more expensive you get a track prepped to full race standards with lots of glue and also the chance to see some of the pro racers doing testing prior to the Euro finals. The meet was well attended with many members trying to squeeze as much track time in as possible to chase those new PB’s seeing as there are only 2 more meets this series and lots of trophies still to chase.

Despite it being September the weather was kind to us on the Saturday will a full day & night of racing, naturally the banter was high as no one wanted to come back to the pits after being beaten by a VW, on a whole V8 ruled although there were a few surprises and a couple of big block V8 members who went home heads in shame muttering about needing to buy more go-faster parts.

The American Car magazine, year’s free subscription was won by Roy Collins in his OS-50 ‘Red Rose Garage’ Pro Street Camaro with 224 points for the weekend, this was the icing on the cake for Roy who also set a new PB over the weekend and has now broken into the 10’s which his newly built Camaro, although there is a lot more to come from the car yet.

The ‘Joe & Co’ sponsored RT Trophy was being chased by all over the weekend with a mere over the weekend with only 0.201 of a second splitting 1st and 2nd place.

With 1st place going to Vic Fisher in his supercharged V6 Mustang with a 0.061 RT, this will be the third RT trophy Vic has won this season and he’s clearly proving to be the man to beat if members want to lay claim to an RT trophy.

Reaction Times

OS-18 Vic Fisher in his supercharged V6 Mustang with a 0.061 RT
OS-42 Nigel Jenkins in his supercharged V8 Mustang with a 0.262 RT
OS-50 Roy Collins in his big block ‘70’s Camaro with a 0.279 RT
OS-19 Stephen Moisey in his Cervini Mustang with a 0.301 RT
OS-26 Steve Adams in his ’99 Mustang with a 0.302 RT
OS-07 Andrew Murton in his ’67 Camaro with a 0.319 RT

2011 Points Table as of Round 7
OS-26 Steve Adams in his 1999 Mustang 1291 Points
OS-18 Vic Fisher in his Supercharged Mustang 1271 Points
OS-07 Andrew Murton in his 1968 Camaro 1128 Points
OS-42 Nigel Jenkins in his Supercharged Mustang 1075 Points
OS19 Stephen Moisey in his Cervini Mustang 882 Points
OS-46 Phil Davey in his Fox body Mustang 881 Points

With only 410 points separating the top 6, 200+ points available at each round with two more rounds to go this season there is everything to race for, remembering that only 7 of the 9 rounds count towards the final points score.

The next round of Outlaw Street OS-8 is on 1st – 2nd October at Shakespeare County Raceway.

Nice report and great to get a mention finally. 8-)
Also, it's 410 points gap, not 4010. ;)
