 Post subject: torque converter run out

any of my race buddies know how much run out is acceptable on the end of the pump snout on a torque converter?

I would say as little as possible. I seem to remember mine moving in and out but not enough to measure without proper tools. I.E. couldn't measure with a tape measure but you could if you had a dial gauge set up properly.
